The Rules of Playing Backgammon

Despite the long origin of the game of backgammon, learning how to play backgammon is easy. It is considered as a skill game, but unfortunately not many people understand the game. Still, getting acquainted with the game of backgammon doesn't take time. With the dawn of the internet, understanding the game is much easier than the before especially with backgammon gaining some ground in terms of popularity. You have the option to play online, download the software or compete with other players or against the computer.

The majority of the players know the set-up of the game: two players, a backgammon board with both players receiving 15 checkers each. When learning the game, you will understand that the aim of the game is to advance chips from the board into your home board and lastly into your winning pieces. The first person to successfully bear off all their checkers is the winner. The board of backgammon consists of four parts. The part of the board nearest to you is your home board, in a clockwise direction; you will pass through the bar and see the remaining half of the board, known as the outer board. Preceding to the same direction you will see the home board of your opponent. You will observe that every quadrant contains 6 points. These are the spaces that you maneuver in. While each color alternates in each space, every chip can pass to any colored space; the colored chips as well as the colored points do not have to be associated.

The game proceeds with the chips in their correct spots. There are five pieces in the initial point of the home board of each player, the one nearest the bar. In another clockwise direction, every player receives three checkers on their outer board. These are situated in the point which is one point away from it. On the other end of the outer board, on the point which is farthest from the midpoint, five additional pieces are placed by every player. Moving in a counter clockwise direction, every player places two checkers in the home board of the opponent closest to their "out" position."

Every dice roll depicts the number of points players are permitted to advance their chips. For instance, if the dice shows a five and a four, you can advance your chips a total of nine spaces. You can either advance one chip four points and the other five. You can utilize the two rolls if it is legitimately allowed to utilize them. The only exception is that you cannot advance a chip into a point which has a checker. If a double is rolled, they move their checkers twice the number that appears on the dice. Hence, a roll of double six entails a move of four six spaces move rather than two. If one of your chips is on a space and a chip of your opponent lands on that space, your pieces returns to the bar and from there it has to travel from the opposite side of the board. The first player to clear all of his chips from the board and into safety is the winner of the game.

Before you can get to play in the game of backgammon, you need to have knowledge of these rules first.
